Tint Installation Instructions

UNIVERSAL INSTRUCTIONS

Tools Needed: Heat Gun or Hair Dryer, Microfiber or Soft Towel, HOT Soapy Water/Slip Solution, Tacky Solution (Water and Isopropyl Alcohol), Squeegee or Card, Xacto Knife or Sharp Thin Blade

Mixture for Solution:

Tack Solution - Isopropyl Alcohol & Water (50/50 Ratio)

Slip Solution - Baby Shampoo & HOT Water (4ml per 16oz. of water, if baby shampoo comes with pump, roughly 3 pumps) The amount of baby shampoo required depends on the weather, hot and humid weather will require more baby shampoo, and colder weather requires hot water)

Instructions:

1)   Thoroughly clean the surface where tint will be applied (headlight, taillight, fog light, etc…)

2)   Spray Slip Solution onto the surface of the lens and onto the sticky side of the tint film just enough to keep the film from sticking.

An extra set of hands is always beneficial but tint can be installed by yourself.

Starting with the flattest pieces is recommended so you can get used to the film before attempting the more complex curved surfaces.

For most curved pieces product will be smaller on purpose and needs to be stretched out to remove wrinkles

3)   Apply tint onto the lens. The adhesive side of the tint should be placed directly on the lens. Adjust the tint onto the lens by starting from one corner (recommended). At this point the film may appear too short, this is because the film has not been stretched

4)   Once satisfied with the film alignment anchor a corner of the precut. Lift the corner and spray tacky solution under the film

5)   Wet the surface of the film and start pushing out the air bubbles/moisture (where you sprayed tacky solution) with your towel (wrapped around your squeegee or card) to prevent any scratches on the film.

6)   Once the corner is anchored into position move to the rest of the film (spray slip solution underneath the film, make sure the film isn’t getting stuck onto the lens) and stretch the other side onto position (should cover any visible lens)

8)   If large bubbles become present, lift the film up to the bubble, spray tack solution and reapply.

9)   Once the film is conformed to the surface of the lens, you can finish working out any imperfections. Respray the lens and use a heat gun/hair dryer and go over the taillights a few more times to make sure all the trapped air has been worked out.

10)   Because the film requires heating and stretching, trimming of the edges may be required using an Xacto knife or sharp thin blade. Some kits are designed to have a small excess of film to roll around the edge of the lens. To do this, heat the film to soften it, roll the film over the edge with your finger and then apply heat to the edge again to seal it.

11)   The film is not yet ready to be washed or go highway speeds until the film adheres fully. Wait a couple hours and go back to check for air bubbles and work them out as needed.

Note: It’s not uncommon to have tiny bubbles or a hazed, foggy look. The film is breathable and porous so tiny bubbles that won’t squeegee out will generally evaporate in a few days. Any large bubble that is unable to be worked to the edge can be popped with a thin sewing needle. Once popped, apply heat to the area to flatten and seal the hole. Dry overnight. Do not wash car for 48 hours.

Removal: To remove the film, heat an edge and slowly peel away while continuously applying heat. Any leftover residue can be removed with goo-gone or similar product.
